How to track and visualize your KPIs with a digital tally counter

A live tally counter for any KPI — orders, signups, donations, social followers — built from a webhook in under 10 minutes. Inspired by every great office scoreboard you've seen on TV.

Celebrating milestones and tracking KPIs in real time matters more than most teams realize. The scoreboards in Silicon Valley and The Social Network aren’t just set decoration — they’re the kind of cultural mechanic that turns a quiet office into a focused one.

PingBell’s live board view (sometimes called the celebration page in the early days) is the digital version. Design a board with a counter block bound to a source and it visualizes the metric you care about — orders, signups, donations, followers — in real time, on whichever screen you point it at.

What is the counter view?

A dedicated, browsable, brandable page that displays your live counter. Drop it on a TV in the office, embed it on a landing page for social proof, or use it as a browser source on a live stream.

Every board has a shareable live view — turn on Public live view in the board’s Sharing panel and anyone with the link can watch.

How to set it up

1. Create your source

Sign in to my.pingbell.io, open the Sources page, and create a new source (custom webhook).

Set a title and description — these show up on every notification.

Pick a sound. PingBell’s library has 70+ built-in options — preview a few before settling on the one that fits.

Invite teammates and they receive every notification on their own phones.

2. Connect it to a trigger

Three options:

  • Direct webhook. Copy the source’s webhook URL from the Sources page. Paste that URL into the webhook field of any tool that supports outbound webhooks (Shopify, Stripe via Stripe Connect, WooCommerce via the plugin, custom apps).
  • Zapier. Use your PingBell API key (from PingBell’s settings) to authenticate Zapier, then build a Zap with any of 6,000+ apps as the trigger and Notify PingBell as the action.
  • Pabbly Connect. Same idea as Zapier with Pabbly’s smaller but cheaper integration set.

3. Customize the board

Design a board with a counter block bound to your source.

  • Add blocks. Counter, goal, text, clock, weather, marquee, image — whatever belongs on the screen
  • Rotate several metrics. Build a channel — a rotating playlist of boards with per-board dwell time — if more than one KPI deserves airtime
  • Position elements. Drag blocks anywhere on the page
  • Customize the look. Pick fonts, set background and counter colors

Creative uses for the counter view

The board’s public live view is just a webpage, which means it works wherever a webpage works:

  • Office TV. Install the PingBell TV app on a streaming stick — it shows a short pairing code; enter it on the Screens page (or scan the QR) and cast the board
  • Embedded landing-page counter. Copy the embed code from the board’s Sharing panel and iframe it into your marketing site as social proof
  • Live-stream overlay. Use it as an OBS browser source with a chroma-keyed green background — we have a step-by-step guide for OBS
  • Conference talk display. Project the counter alongside your slides during a launch announcement

Why this matters

Counters do for digital business what the bell on a sales floor does for a brick-and-mortar one — they make the moment audible and visible. Wins stop being silent. The team feels the trajectory of the day.
